Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 1.0 (Aug 27, 2008)

The Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) has now released version 1.0 (v1.0) including a certified set of plugins that supports Eclipse 3.3 and 3.4. This release is intended to provide an integrated development environment (IDE) for WebLogic Server (WLS) Tools to develop, deploy and debug applications based on Java EE platform.

OEPE v1.0 installs a plugin to support the Eclipse Environment already existed or installs Eclipse plugins to support the servlet applications. This release is a reworked product of Oracle WLS Tools Project with Facelets incubator and Oracle DTP (Database Plugin).

The following features have been included in OEPE v1.0 -

Supported Server Versions: OEPE has full support for WebLogic Server versions 10.3, 10.0 and 9.2  and a limited support for versions 9.1, 9.0 and 8.1.

FastSwap: Java Class Redefinition is supported by OEPE by dynamic reloading of fields and methods into java classes and reduces the iteration of development cycles.

Remote Deployment Support: Development, Deployment and Debugging in remote WebLogic Server is supported for 9.x and higher versions.

Support for Virtual EAR Technology: OEPE makes development and deployment of WebLogic Server applications in large organizations faster with improved performance with supported Virtual EAR technology that enables automatic generation of Descriptor files.

WebLogic Shared J2EE Library: OEPE has support for WebLogic Shared J2EE Library that enables the deployment of enterprise java applications faster because the same java module types canbe shared by different aplications.

Graphical Editing support for Deployment Descriptors: Graphical editing is supported for deployment descriptors weblogic.xml and weblogic-application.xml.

WebLogic Server Extension Facets: OEPE facilitates suuport for server extetension facets for four project types, viz., EAR, Web App, Utility module and EJB projects.

Apache XMLBeans Support: Apache XMLBeans are supported in OEPE that facilitates easy access to XML data by using Java. OEPE supports versions 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 of Apache XMLBeans.

The OEPE v1.0 can be used at free of cost and any other Oracle product using Eclipse-based IDE can use it though it specifically designed to integrate with WebLogic Server.
